“MIRROR RELECTIONS”

My older brother sent me an article years ago. Found it when I was going through some old files. It was by Aleander Papadero. Alexander talks about how a mirror, to him, is a “life metaphor”. He always carries a small mirror with him in his wallet. He explains the value of the mirror:
“When I was a small child, during the war, we were very poor and we lived in a remote village. One day, on the road, I found the broken pieces of a mirror. A German motorcycle had been wrecked in that place. I tried to find all the pieces and put them together, but it was not possible, so I kept only the largest piece. This one. And by scratching it on a stone I made it round. I began to play with it as a toy and came fascinated by the fact that I could reflect light into dark places where the sun could never shine – in deep holes and crevices and dark closets. It became a game for me to get light into the most inaccessible places I could find.
I kept the little mirror, and as I want about my growing up, I would take it out in idle moments and continue the challenge of the game. As I became a man, I grew to understand that this was not just a childs game, but a metaphor for what I might do with my life. I came to understand that I am not the right or true source of the light. But light – truth, understanding knowledge – is there, and it will only shine in many dark places if I reflect it. I am a fragment of a mirror whose whole design and shape I do not know. Nevertheless, with what I have I can reflect light into the dark places the is world – into the blacks places in the hearts of men (& women) and change some things in some people. Perhaps other may see and do likewise. This is what I am about!”
Our actions, attitudes and decisions reflect what is central in our life. I’ve spoken with folks outside of Coach Rozy Performance; adults, coaches, athletes and others, and have heard them say great thing about you that train here at Coach Rozy or with us outside of these walls. You may not know it, but you are all a light that reflects into their life. Because of your positive attitudes, the way you have set a goal to be healthier, more fit, a better athlete, perform better and make fitness and training a part f your life – it has made an impact on others! You have shined light into dark places.
Each of you should be proud to be the mirror for using fitness, training and performance to shine light to others in your circle. We here at Coach Rozy want to thank each of you for being a great reflection – a source for giving others a light – of hope, of showing them a path they can also go – and a way to get to their dreams and goals.
Now to “Drop the Hammer”! You are not done! Ask yourself these questions:
- HOW DOES DIFFERENT AREAS OF MY LIFE RELECT FITNESS AND TAKING CARE OF ME?
- HOW DOES MY PERFORMANCE LIFESTYLE REFLECT WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO ME?
- HOW DOES YOUR LIFESTYLE RELECT YOUR PASSION?
These are deep questions. Remember, anytime you step outside your comfort zone and make positive changes in your life, you will cast a reflection for others to see. We have a lot to reflect on in the months ahead! In everything we do, lets reflect the light into each area of our life where we take our performance to the next level. That’s while we’ll be seeing you – at Coach Rozy’s!!
