You can live pain free!
This weekend Doug Wuebben, my friend and business partner, and I will be speaking in San Diego (maybe as you are reading this). We will be speaking to a group of sonographers about how to LIVE PAIN FREE, by doing THE RIGHT MOVES. We will also do a “hands on” session for those interested in ways to alleviate work and life related pain. Eighty-six million Americans have consistent pain!
People tell me all the time, “I’m in pain” and ask, “What can I do.” I tell them that pain may stem from work activities, life activities, mobility and stability issues, our lifestyle and what we eat. Today’s Friday Fitness Tip focuses on the things that we eat that might be causing problems with pain.
Here are three things from a diet standpoint that are known to be pain accelerates:
A diet that is high in sugar
A diet that is high in trans fat
A diet low in vitamin D
If you are experiencing muscle and joint pain you should take a look at what you are eating. Dr. Bob – the Drugless Doctor (www.druglessdoctor.com), out of Cleveland, OH, is another great friend of mine and he says to live a pain free life we need to take at least one tablespoon of flax oil daily (I add it to my morning smoothie). Like I mentioned above, he also says NO SUGAR and includes in that “SAY NO” category, the intake of dairy. Cutting back on citrus and replacing oranges with bell peppers is another dietary suggestion for pain relief.
One last thought, eating a high carbohydrate diet tends to increase copper. High copper means low zinc. You need zinc to make natural pain relievers in your body. Wheat depletes zinc . . . chew on that for a moment.
We are what we eat – and our pain is related to what we put into our bodies as well as how we train. (More on the training aspect next Friday).
