We hear all the time how folks “get lucky and make it rich and successful”!

Michael Sparks was visiting a Nashville thrift store, where he bought a candleholder, a set of salt and pepper shakers, and a yellowed print of the Declaration of Independence. Sparks figured the document was a worthless, modern reprint, so he paid the asking price — $2.48 — and headed home. After taking a closer look, Sparks to have the print authenticated and preserved and then he put it up for auction, netting a final sale price of $477,650.

In November 1992, a farmer living near the village of Hoxne in Suffolk, England, lost a hammer in one of his fields, so he asked Eric Lawes to use his metal detector to search for it. While looking for the hammer, Lawes happened upon something else of interest — 24 bronze coins, 565 gold coins, 14,191 silver coins, plus hundreds of gold and silver spoons, jewelry, and statues, all dating back to the Roman Empire. The farmer and Lawes split a cool £1.75 million. The Hoxne Hoard is now on permanent display at the British Museum, drawing thousands of people every year. Sadly, there is no word on whether or not the hammer was ever found.

We hear these “luck” stories and assume that fame and fortune are easy to grasp. We hear how those successful people start a business and the money comes rolling in. It’s those folks that have “it”, and reach every goal they set for themselves. We wish success for us could be that easy. possible

You know what – there are over night success stories. People that luck out at a flea market and hit it big. A bartender who gets discovered and becomes a famous actor. But over and over and over again, if you read success stories, you’ll find that the majority of folks that reach their dreams don’t make it happen over night. THEIR KEY TO SUCCESS IS THEY NEVER GIVE UP. They for sure don’t give in without giving a fight each step of the way. In business, in life, in anytime we are faced with a challenge we sometimes start to believe that we just aren’t cut out to be in business, we shouldn’t be chasing this dream. The goal we put in front of us is to far out there. This is a complete lie. Most businesses face struggles. Most people that chase their dreams hit road blocks, but keep moving forward anyway. ,Most founders and successful people won’t ever tell you about them. They’ll only speak of their successes and not the struggles. The false belief out there this is that success somehow occurs overnight and without having to fight for it.

To be successful you’re going to have to fight for it. Thomas Jefferson is quoted with saying, “I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have.” If we never give up, fight the good fight – we will find success. The only way to fail, is to GIVE UP.

DO IT

  1. This one will be a little tough this week. First, I want you to get a video of you again talking about the last 11 weeks. The good, the bad, the ugly. Say what has been going right and what has gone wrong.
  2. Watch the video with a couple close friends. Have them really watch and listen to your words. Get their feedback on what they “SEE” and “HEAR”.
  3. Here is the tough part. I want you to go back from week #7, and get out your video. Play that video for your friends. Ask them to evaluate that video – the good, the bad, the ugly.
  4. Ask them to compare the two and see if you are more confident, excited, fired up and have a bigger passion now then you did about a month ago.
  5. If you are more fired up now – fantastic. You’re on the right path. If they and you don’t think you are as fired up and passionate as you were before get out your workbook.
  6. Write down the TOP 3 things, what has given you the hardest blows that brought you down or are keeping you down. Put down your top three.
  7. Next to each one – put down 2 solutions of what you can do to get back up on your feet – and start the next round. Maybe with your exercise program and diet, it’s been that when you go out with friends, and your not losing the weight like you want, you are really tempted to just drop the diet and forget all about eating right. Or maybe you already have a couple times and find that it’s harder and harder to get back on the diet the next week. Maybe your two solutions to keep up the good fight is to 1. STOP going out with friends to places that make you overeat. 2. Invite friends over to your place and make the meal – or YOU pick the place for the next few weeks to go to. Try a new place to hang out – break into a new habit. Maybe you are looking to get into a new relationship, but just haven’t had any success meeting anyone – and being alone sucks. 1. Start going to new places and meet new people. 2. Join a “group” and meet some new people. That “right one might not even be in the group you are meeting with, but maybe someone in the group knows someone – and you meeting new people enlarges your circle of contacts.
  8. Put your plan into action – this week!
