MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY – ANSWER THESE 3 QUESTIONS TO ACHIEVE YOUR 2016 PERFORMANCE GOALS

Answer These 3 Questions to Achieve Your 2016 Performance Goals
It’s the 1/2 way point of the first month of 2016, and I hope you’re still fired up and pushing forward with the goals you set and all kinds of things you added to begin a fresh start in your life.
There’s a reason every machine at the gym is occupied for the next few weeks and why so many people spend January throwing extra cash at their credit card debt.
We all start the year with good intentions! But if we don’t think through how we’re actually going to reach our goals, well, we often wave the white flag way before we should.
If taking control of your fitness and performance goals this year, you need to come up with a plan that’ll outlast your Valentine’s Day roses. Don’t be the guy or gal whose motivation fizzles. Be the one who’s still intentional with your health and wellness this time next year.
To make that happen, think through these three questions now so you have a plan for your money that lasts.
1. Where do I want to be physically at this time next year?
Take a look into the future. Imagine yourself better off, fitness-wise, by 2017. What does that look like for you? Depending on where you are now and just how intense you want to get, you might have made a change in your weight, or you might be coasting through a full year of training and have done your first event; maybe a fun run, a bike race, or other event. Maybe you’re gearing up to finally join a sport league, or try a new activity. You’ll set yourself up for success by having a solid, definable goal in mind with a timeline in place to reach it.
Think about each month what you need to do to help you break down your goals into tiny, bite-size pieces. Now pull out your calendar and start writing down your goals!
2. How can I kick-start dumping bad habits for good?
The key to freeing yourself from not being the weight you want, not having the shape you want, not being in the cardio shape you want is making a training plan and sticking to it so you can see where your time, energy and hard work is going. Try it out for about three months to get the hang of it and to see some patterns in your training program. Once you do, it’s pretty simple, and it can actually be fun! This is a habit worth starting.
Once you have a training plan (need help? Reach out to use here at Coach Rozy Performance and we can help!), you have to CHANGE YOUR PERSPECTIVE ON TRAINING. You have to hate missing a session, hate not eating right and feeling good. I mean really, truly despise it. That’ll make you keep training even if you get off schedule, or not just throw in the towel if you slip a little on your diet. If you have that mindset, you can say sayonara to bad health and fitness forever.
That also means you might have to make some sacrifices on some things you think you really, really want! The piece of cake. That time to sleep in instead of coming to a bootcamp. But if you slog through the painful stuff now, you’ll reap the rewards later.
3. What are my biggest fitness and performance obstacles?
Change isn’t easy. If it were, everyone would be lean, fit and healthy. That’s why you need to identify what’s held you back in the past and attack those obstacles head on. Do you hang out with friends that talk you out of training? Is your training partner MIA? Does an endless stream of unplanned events drag you back into becoming a couch potato as soon as you get home because you’re to tired to do what you need to do?
Identify your weaknesses or stumbling blocks so you can protect yourself from them when you’re feeling tempted or backed into a corner. Where are you spending your time? Are your priorities lining up with your goals?
So, now that you’ve faced the hard questions, are you ready to make 2016 your best year yet? With the right level of determination and a little bit of planning, you can do it! GO FOR IT! LIVE YOUR DREAM – SHARE YOUR PASSION.
