#3 Movement Patterns
Team. I know last week we got off track from our “7 ELEMENTS” of achieving high levels of training and performance. To get back to it, we are hitting #3 this week. Element #1 was NUTRITION, Element #2 was REST & RECOVERY and this round, we look at PATTERN OF MOVEMENTS to take us to the next level of success with our training program.
When we speak about movement patterns, we are really looking at how we move and function each day. The moves we use are:
- BEND
- ROTATE
- EXTEND
- FLEX
- LUNGE/STEP
- SQUAT
- DIAGONAL/ROTATIONAL
How we can coordinate our body, getting it to work together – as one unit, is the key. That’s why we talk all the time about “Training Movement, Not Just Training Muscle”. One muscle might be strong (the front – or chest area), and other parts might be weak (the back – or lat area). When this happens, and we just work to “get a big chest”, or “bench press as much as we can”, or ladies want to “just work the problem areas”, it can lead to more problems then just having low numbers on what we can press and more arm that moves then we might want.
CRlogonobackgroundIf the front is over-developed, we start to have shoulder problems, back problems and maybe even hip mobility problems. If our ankles get tight, we have knee problems.
What we need to do is make sure we can MOVE RIGHT, before we start to add resistance or load to what we are doing. So we go back to the movements above. We want to make sure we can SQUAT with our body weight, before we move forward with even getting on a machine. Moving poorly can can stress on joints and injury (get personal injury lawyer for hire from here) if we don’t do things correctly. Even when we move with our bodyweight, if we are moving poorly, over time, we can have problems; tight backs, tight hips, headaches, shoulder pain, foot problems, etc. By correcting how we move, we take care of the problem, then can move on to get stronger, add more mobility, stability or other performance components. If there are traffic accident injury claims, you can check here for solutions. If you are looking for helping auto accident victims, you can check it out here!
Next Friday, we’ll talk about how to progress with your program the right way and avoid injury and other problems.
Make June the best month of the year yet!
